由于新闻的传播性真实性强及中西文化的差异，对于不太了解英语国家历史文化背景及用词特点的读者来说，理解起来确实不易，许多妙不可言的精彩之处，一疏忽就可能从眼皮底下滑过去。所以在翻译新闻英语时，我们不仅要理解好它的字面意思，更要挖掘中西文化的差异，吃透其内涵，既能真实地传达新闻的本身意思，又能顾及其文体特点增强可读性，因此翻译时一定要做到简洁精炼、生动传神，把握中西文化差异及用词方面的特点。

　　例如，在含比喻的报道中，英汉两个民族的巨大差异往往造成英汉比喻不对应而出现空缺项。原喻体中的形象既无法在译欲语中再现，译语中也没有喻体形象，译出其喻义便可。

　　新闻主要是报道各种国家大事和繁琐的事，要及时、准确地表达出来。所以对译者的要求是比较高的，对他们全面的能力要求是比较高的，因他们不仅是只翻译出来，还需能让读者清楚地知道所发生的事情。

　　新闻是对新近已经发生、正在发生、或者早已发生却新近发现的有价值事实的及时报道，其特点是即时性(timeliness)、准确性(accuracy)、简明性(brevity & clarity)。

　　而新闻翻译，秉承新闻文体的特点，亦需要精炼易懂，用简洁的语言表达丰富的内容，在翻译过程中，应尽可能删去可有可无、且不影响内容完整与准确的词。此外，在表达上，新闻语言要清晰有力，不能模棱两可，更不应晦涩难懂。因而新闻虽篇幅短小，却要求译员在遣词造句上多加锤炼，非常考验翻译功底。

　　新闻稿翻译要点列举

　　1：文化与国情

　　新闻中常涉及政治、经济、文化、外交等内容，译者需要具备必要的文化常识和政治敏感性，凡遇到具备国情特点的内容，务必多加核证，以避免错误的用词及译法导致严重后果。

　　2：编译

　　很多时候，由于新闻价值的不同，根据国外受众的需求和兴趣，新闻内容常被进行选择性翻译。有时在国内报道中占相当篇幅的新闻，在对外报道中则被编译成简讯、图片新闻等。

　　不过如你仅是翻译，而非新闻稿编辑，还是要将有效信息点逐一译出，留请最终的使用方进行内容的取舍，不要妄自进行修改。

　　3：解释性翻译

　　新闻讲求清晰易懂，想要明白地将汉语新闻报道中的“行话”、“历史典故”等翻译出来，常常需要使用解释性翻译的方法。比如，有关我国独有的历史典故、地理名称、机构、节日、习俗、行话、套话等，都需要采用解释性的翻译方法。

　　比如“巴金”译作“Chinese writer Ba Jin”，又如“江苏”译作“Jiangsu Province in east China”，以便让外国读者确切了解人物身份及具体地理位置。

　　(主宾都是长名字且必须同时出现的情况下，能缩就缩，谓语能一个词解决，绝不要一对儿~)

　　翻译原则：力求译文的规范性和可读性，时刻保持对语言的敏感性。
